The Old Oakhamian Golf Society (OOGS) plays a number of events annually - the main event for the men's team is the Annual Grafton Morrish Trophy Old Pupils Tournament. Its an Amateur Scratch Foursomes competition with three pairs per school. There is an Area Qualifying Round in May/June at Gog Magog GC in Cambridge with the finals in September/October at Hunstanton Golf Club and Royal West Norfolk Golf Club. The OO Golf Society has never won the main trophy but has enjoyed success in the Solihull Salver and Committee Bowl competitions winning both once in 2009. The OOGS Team also play local old pupils events and against other school old pupils teams.
For the Ladies, the premier competition is the Silver Tassie held at The Berkshire Golf Club in May/June and played over both courses. Its two pairs of golfers playing 4BBB handicap stableford. The OO Golf Society is still seeking their first overall victory in the competition with best placing 3rd overall in 2023.
The OO Golf Day is played at The Luffenham Heath Golf Club annually for OO’s golfers. The Society is fortunate to have such a welcoming club in Luffenham Heath who host this event annually in June, and all the Oakhamians who visit there enjoy playing on such a splendid course which has been much upgraded in recent years.
