Leaving a Legacy can change the lives of future generations. The Archdeacon Robert Johnson Legacy Society (ARJLS) recognises those who have included the Oakham School Foundation in their will.

The Society embodies a shared commitment to shaping and securing the future of Oakham School and its pupils and provides opportunities that leave a lasting impact.

In recognition of this generosity, we have installed a Legacy Board in the heart of the School bearing the names of those who have pledged or left a gift in their will as a lasting tribute to their vision and kindness.

How to Include a Gift in your Will

We understand that you will want to ensure that your family and loved ones are looked after first and foremost, but it is simple to add Oakham School as an additional beneficiary. We suggest that you consider giving a percentage of your estate, rather than a specific amount so that the value of your gift will not be diminished by inflation. Even 1% of your estate can be a significant gift.

There may be significant tax advantages if you are a UK tax payer, but we do recommend that you consult a solicitor before you make your decision. You may find that a Letter of Wishes can be helpful as a temporary step until you next make changes to your Will. Although it is not legally binding, your executors should be able to fulfil your wishes.

How will your Legacy be Used?

You can specify how you wish your legacy to be used; for a bursary or a capital project. You may wish to make a specific bequest, and we would be happy to discuss your plans.

Uless otherwise specified, legacy payments will be used to support life-changing bursaries.

The ARJLS invites members to an annual Societies Lunch and invites members to special events across the School calendar.
