A place where you can organise lunch at the Hornblower before heading over to BAFS to say goodbye to Jono for his leaving drinks starting at 6pm at BAF Smith Pavilion.
We only have 40% of email addresses from the Class of '74. If you are in touch with any of the other '74 leavers please pass on this event and urge them to update their contact details and sign up to the Oakhamian Connection here: https://oakhamianconnection.com/
It has been some while since an OO ’74 leavers’ reunion was mooted for 2020 – and was subsequently cancelled due to covid.
Since then – and for which my apologies, my eye has been taken off organising this event, as my focus has been on my personal plans to relocate to the Far East, which will be coming to fruition this October.
Under the circumstances, I am thinking the way to take forward a quick reunion in the short term is to tag ourselves onto the up-coming Late Summer Drinks event being organised by the OO Club at the BAFS Pavilion on Friday 23rd September 2022. Hopefully, it being a Friday should not be too problematic for us retired pensioners!
I have spoken to the OO Club Administrator and he is happy for us to ‘crash’ this event.
Could I suggest that those who can, should aim to rendezvous at the Admiral Hornblower Hotel on the High Street for lunch (http://hornblowerhotel.co.uk) – following lunch, depending on numbers have a tour of the School. There would then be an opportunity to have tea before joining the Late Summer Drinks at the pavilion at 18.00.
If you would let me know whether or not you plan to come (contact details below), I will be happy to co-ordinate this gathering and keep everyone informed of who is attending – and what is happening where & when on the day.
Can I ask you to contact any other OOs from our era whom you know and encourage them to attend too? Do pass on my contact details for them to respond to me.
Finally, apologies for the relatively short notice – but we have 6 weeks – so let’s see if we can make this work – and perhaps aim for a proper reunion dinner in our 50th year!
Best wishes,
