The following has been written by Jeremy Martin ('89):
We just wanted to let you know that our father, Edward Martin, passed away peacefully on 8th October. He was the Head of Buisness and Housemaster at Oakham School for many years until his retirement.
Eddie Martin moved to Oakham in the late 1970s to take up the position of Business Studies teacher at Oakham School where he worked until 2000 and his retirement. He was also the Housemaster of School House up until his retirement.
He was elected a councillor for the then Rutland District Council, sitting as both a Conservative and sometimes Independent.
He leaves three sons - Jeremy ('89), Julian ('82) and Adrian ('85), who all attended school in Oakham, and 2 grandchildren - Amelie and Essie Martin
The funeral will be taking place at 12pm on Thursday 19th October at St John the Evangelist's Church is in the village of Crosscanonby, Cumbria.
