OO Events & Reunions |
Simmons and Simmons, London
Tuesday 16 September 2025
Our Legal Networking Evening on Tuesday was kindly hosted by Angus McLean (‘94), Partner, Intellectual Property at Simmons & Simmons and had a focus on AI. Key-note speaker Saman Harris (’03) a Senior Technology Lawyer with deep experience advising high-growth, disruptive businesses at a strategic level shared his career path, experience and his interest in AI and its constant involvement.
We were delighted to have in attendance a group of OOs who, at varying stages of their law careers, really embraced the subject and generated some very interesting and stimulating conversations around AI, including the pros and cons of AI alongside legal and possible security risks; how AI and Chat GPT are assisting with timings, making lawyers more efficient and therefore more effective for the client; and how Lawyers need to stay ahead of trends and be adaptable, keep on top of human relationships and networking - all things AI cannot do but can work in conjunction with.
The evening organically led itself on to career development. Both Angus and Saman gave honest, helpful and encouraging guidance on how to move forward and promote oneself in this very competitive field. Saman also touched on how lawyers really need to build their brand and engage on social media – AI is a brilliant tool for this.
Thank you to everyone who attended we hope you enjoyed the evening and also made some great contacts!
Our next networking evening is Networking in the City on Wednesday 12 November at Simmons and Simmons – please visit our event page for further information and to sign up.
We are also grateful to Rob Hanna (’03) founder and CEO KC Partners, for all his support with our legal networking events.
