Elephants Never Forget

Long-lived and famous for their extraordinary memories, elephants recall routes and recognise individuals. Like us, they are deeply social creatures, forming bonds that last a lifetime. They share joy within their herds — and they grieve together when one of their own dies.

For patients and families at LOROS Hospice, memories hold a similar importance: they help to cherish the time they have left, find comfort in happy recollections, and celebrate the moments that matter most.

That is why we are so proud to be part of STOMP Round Leicester, a city-wide trail of beautifully decorated elephant sculptures raising funds for LOROS. Our two baby elephant sculptures — VAVA (designed by our Voluntary Action students and brought to life by local artist Rosie McPherson) and Duke (designed by our Duke of Edinburgh Award students) — have now joined the full herd in Leicester!

You can visit them until 21 September 2025

Duke is at at the King Richard III Visitor Centre

VAVA is at This + That, LOROS’s vibrant shop on Granby Street

Many well-known names and local celebrities have joined this project — and you can follow the whole trail and find your favourite elephants on Instagram:

In October the 2 sculptures will come back to Oakham School to be part of our school community for good!
