On the evening of Wednesday 18th September, the offices of Simmons & Simmons opened their doors to welcome the second Legal Networking Events for OOs.
Angus McLean (‘94), IP Partner and Head of FinTech at Simmons & Simmons, kindly hosted us.
Charlotte Woodward, Alumni Manager at Oakham School, welcomed everyone and gave an apology from Headmaster Henry Price.
Leah Adeniran (’11), a Senior Associate at Latham & Watkins, the second largest law firm in the world by revenue. After undertaking a law conversion course, Leah secured a training contract at a Magic Circle law firm, where she spent the first five years of her legal career. Advising corporates and private equity clients on cross-border mergers & acquisitions, and venture capital financings. She has advised on over $33 billion worth of transactions.
Recently, Leah was shortlisted by Black Women in Asset Management for the 40 Under 40 Awards. Previously, she was recognised by WeAreTheCity in their Rising Star in Law category and named a Top 100 Future Leader in the Empower Role Model Lists. She spoke on imposter syndrome, a challenge that affects many in every industry, sharing strategies for overcoming self-doubt and stepping into your full potential with confidence.
Moderated by Angus, the evening led to career development, where guidance on how to excel in this competitive field was shared, which led to a stimulating exchange of questions and answers with the group.
OOs from 2022 to 1991 enjoyed meeting one another and exchanging views while enjoying a drink and canapes.
We are also incredibly grateful to Rob Hanna (’03) for all his support with our legal networking events.
