From Oakham to Adidas: Felicity Milton ('06) Inspires the Next Generation

Oakham School was proud to welcome back Felicity Milton ('06), Global Senior Director, Digital Tech, Team Sport at Adidas, who returned to deliver a keynote lecture to pupils studying Design and Technology, Sports Science, and Business Studies.

Felicity’s talk was a masterclass in innovation, resilience, and ambition. Speaking to a packed audience of enthusiastic students, she shared her journey from the classrooms and sports fields of Oakham to the global stage of sportswear innovation.

After leaving Oakham, Felicity pursued Mechanical Engineering at Durham University, where she balanced academic rigour with her passion for athletics. Her sporting journey continued across the Atlantic in the United States, where she furthered her studies and competed at a high level in athletics.

Her career at Adidas began with an internship — a humble start that quickly evolved into a leadership role. Felicity led a pioneering team that developed 3D-printed running shoes, pushing the boundaries of performance footwear design. Most recently, she spearheaded the Locker Room project, a revolutionary platform that allows teams to customise sports kits, transforming how athletes connect with their identity and team spirit.

Throughout her talk, Felicity emphasised the importance of curiosity, collaboration, and courage — qualities she believes are essential for Generation Z as they prepare to enter a rapidly evolving world. Her insights resonated deeply with pupils across disciplines, offering a rare glimpse into the intersection of engineering, sport, and global business.

Head of Design and Technology, Mr Tim Weston, commented:

"Felicity’s journey is a powerful example of how a strong foundation in STEM, combined with creativity and drive, can lead to extraordinary achievements. Her story will undoubtedly inspire our students to think boldly and pursue their passions."

Oakham School is immensely grateful to Felicity for returning to share her experiences and wisdom. Her visit not only celebrated the achievements of an outstanding alumna but also ignited fresh ambition in the minds of future innovators, athletes, and entrepreneurs.
