It was a pleasure to welcome back the Class of 1976 to Oakham School on Saturday 18 April, to celebrate 50 Years since they left Oakham School.
Following a lovely welcome from Sam Rowntree and the Headmaster and a delicious lunch in The Barraclough (which of course, was not built when they were at Oakham) the peers began reminiscing further whilst looking through the red books, magazines and archive photos.
Post-lunch the 1976 leavers had the opportunity to see how much the school site has changed since they left 50 years ago. Starting at the Barraclough Dining Hall the group made their way around the school site, learning all about the changes over the years and what Oakham School is like today. A glorious way to spend a sunny afternoon in Oakham.
We hear the afternoon then ended well at The Grainstore Pub and we hope you all enjoyed the rest of your weekend!
Thanks to Penelope Penny (Clarkson) for organising on behalf of the class of 1976 and for all who joined. Thank you also to Mark Underwood for the photographs, which are displayed in the gallery below.
