It was a pleasure to welcome back the Class of 1986 to 1584 on Saturday 19 September to celebrate 40 Years since they left Oakham School.

The day started with a tour of the School - it was wonderful to hear stories from their time at Oakham as the group made their way around the school site, learning all about the changes over the years and what Oakham School is like today. A glorious way to spend a sunny afternoon in Oakham.

Arriving at 1584 where a sumptuous buffet awaited the peers began reminiscing further whilst looking through the red books, magazines and archive photos enjoying a glass of prosecco or two.

We were delighted that Lucy Pearson could join us in 1584, where she gave a heartfelt ‘welcome back’ to the Class of 1986. She mentioned that Oakham is a special place and is still very much the school that they all remember in terms of its spirit and the young people it produces. She continued with reunions are such special occasions and it’s a credit to the school that many of the class have come back after 40 years to celebrate together. Lucy also spoke of connections and the importance of keeping in touch, her love of Oakham and that it was in her DNA, which prompted immense cheers and agreement from everyone, and how she hoped this wouldn’t be the last time this group all met up together.
