Finance Network

On the eve of Wednesday 15 November, the second of our new series of professional networking events for OOs took place at Bleeding Heart Yard London, focusing on financial services.

The evening kicked off with stimulating discussions about the compelling connections within banking, investment, insurance, and private equity.

Nick Priestnall (’69), Acting Head of Development, and Charlotte Woodward, Alumni Officer, welcomed everyone and thanked our two Alumni speakers for their time.

Steven West (’84), Senior Vice President and Head of Multinational Corporate Coverage at United Overseas Bank, shared insights and guidance in managing a career through dynamic and challenging markets.

Edward Heckels (’84) has worked for Kleinwort Benson/Kleinwort Hambros for 36 years. The first 14 years were spent on the investment banking side of the business, advising governments on privatisations and corporates on mergers and acquisitions, business strategy, and fundraising in the international capital markets. Edward captivated the attendees with his top ten tips for working in the financial industry.

OOs from 2021 to 1984 and from as far afield as Durham enjoyed meeting one another and exchanging views while enjoying a drink and some food.

Next year, we plan to hold networking events for medical sciences and property; make sure that you update your profile on TOC to ensure you get invited to the events which interest you.
