On Tuesday 16 June, we will be welcoming Old Oakhamian, Rugby World Cup winner and former England captain, Lewis Moody (‘96) back to the School. Lewis is returning as part of the "Lewis Moody XV Cycle Challenge", a remarkable 500-mile ride from Newcastle to Twickenham in support of the 'My Name'5 Doddie Foundation' and the fight against Motor Neurone Disease.
Since sharing his MND diagnosis last year, Lewis has faced everything with the courage and good humour that those who knew him here will remember well. We are delighted that he has chosen to return to the School, as part of this challenge, and his visit gives us an opportunity to come together and show our support for Lewis and his team.
Lewis and his cycle team will arrive at Chapel Close at 2:30pm where our pupils and staff will welcome them. They will depart at 3:30pm.
If you are in the vicinity, you are most welcome to join us.
On a practical side, we ask that OOs park at Schanschieff (LE15 6QG) or in any of the town's designated parking areas before heading into the town centre to applaud and welcome the Lewis Moody XV Cycle Challenge into Oakham.
We look forward to seeing some of you tomorrow!
